Marketing Analytics

Most marketing reports disagree with each other because nobody agreed the definitions first. This service fixes the plumbing: consistent campaign tagging, verified event tracking, attribution reported with its limits, and dashboards that answer the questions raised in the Monday meeting.

UTM governance sounds dull and saves more reporting time than anything else. One written convention, all lowercase, a fixed set of source and medium values, a campaign pattern that carries date and objective, and a shared builder sheet so nobody types facebook, Facebook, and fb-ads in the same month. Existing links get audited, and redirects cover the ones already printed or scheduled.

Event tracking has to be verified, never assumed. We define the events that matter, implement them through Google Tag Manager or server side where the setup justifies it, and test each one in preview mode and again in live traffic. A quarterly QA pass catches the tag someone removed during a site update, which is the usual reason a metric flatlines with no explanation.

Attribution is reported with its limits stated openly. Last click undervalues everything that created demand. First click ignores whatever closed the deal. Position based and data driven models help, but none survive cookie loss, cross device journeys, and offline conversions intact. We pair platform data with a self reported source question on the form, which is often the most honest input available.

Reporting exists to produce decisions, so dashboards stay short. Channel performance, cost per qualified lead, pipeline created, and conversion rate by stage, with acquisition cost and payback tracked against contribution margin rather than top line revenue. Looker Studio or your CRM dashboards handle delivery, and every number carries a definition so nobody relitigates what a lead means.

What's included

Everything in Marketing Analytics

UTM standard and builder

A written naming convention with allowed values, plus a shared link builder so every campaign is tagged the same way by every person.

Measurement plan

Each event listed with its trigger, parameters, and the business question it answers, agreed before a single tag is built.

GA4 and tag manager setup

Events, conversions, audiences, and channel groupings configured correctly, with internal traffic, staging, and bot noise filtered out.

Consent handling

Cookie banner and consent signals wired so tracking respects choices, with the reporting impact of denied consent explained rather than quietly hidden.

Attribution view

Models compared side by side plus a self reported source field on your forms, so decisions are not hostage to a single platform view.

Dashboards

Looker Studio or in platform dashboards for channel, funnel, and pipeline, refreshed automatically and shared with the people who need them.

Metric definitions

A one page glossary defining lead, qualified lead, opportunity, and conversion, signed off by both marketing and sales.

Quarterly data QA

A scheduled check that tags still fire, spend still imports, and reports still reconcile with the CRM inside an agreed margin.

How it works

The process

1

Audit

We review current tracking, tagging, goals, and reports, then list every place two sources disagree and estimate which of them sits closer to the truth.

2

Define

Metrics, events, and naming conventions are written into a measurement plan. Sales and marketing both sign off on what counts as a qualified lead.

3

Implement

Tags, conversions, cost imports, and dashboards are built and validated against real traffic and CRM records before anyone is asked to trust a number.

4

Review

A monthly reporting rhythm with written commentary, not just charts, plus a quarterly QA pass to catch tracking that broke during site or platform changes.

FAQ

Questions about Marketing Analytics

Why do GA4, the ad platforms, and our CRM show different numbers?

Because they count different things. Ad platforms count view through and click conversions inside their own attribution windows. GA4 counts events after consent. The CRM counts records created. Some gap is normal. We set the acceptable range, name the CRM as source of truth for revenue, and investigate anything outside it.

Is Google Analytics enough on its own?

For website behaviour, mostly. For revenue attribution in a business with a sales cycle, no. GA4 stops at the form submit. Connecting it to the CRM, so you can see which channel created pipeline and closed deals rather than just submissions, is where the useful reporting starts.

How does consent affect our data?

Denied consent means some events are never collected, so reported numbers sit below reality. Consent mode can model part of that gap. The honest response is to state your collection rate, compare periods on a like for like basis, and use CRM records for the figures that must be exact.

Can you fix reporting without changing our website?

Some of it. Tagging conventions, channel groupings, dashboards, and CRM reporting need no site changes at all. Event tracking usually needs tag manager access, and a few events need a developer to expose data in the page. We scope what is possible with the access you can give.
